Paradise Possessed - Exhibition Plan

Terra Australis Incognita, the first section of the exhibition, explores the theories about the Great South Land which existed in the European imagination for centuries. Curious to Discover, the second section follows on with the European fascination and discovery of new places. The third section, The Progress of Art, examines the progress of British exploration through artistic visions. The Furthest Eden investigates the relationship between the British and the Maoris in New Zealand, while the next section Servants of Empire portrays the missionaries and others who 'civilised' and occupied the new lands. The exhibition concludes with information about Rex Nan Kivell.
