Mr Norman McCann

Obituary

Mr Norman McCann,  BEc, DipMechE, FAIM, FAICD

Council members and Library staff were deeply saddened by the sudden death of their colleague and friend Norman McCann on 26 March. Norman was appointed to Council as a non-executive member on 21 July 1999 for a three-year term.

Norman was a man of great professionalism, passion and integrity and a proud and committed member of Council. His record of service, leadership and commitment to not only Council but also to his many government, industry and information technology advocacies was outstanding.

Terms of reference

The terms of reference of the Audit Committee are to:

a.
help the Library and members of the Council of the Library to comply with obligations under the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997
b.
provide a forum for communication between the members of the Council, senior managers of the Library and the Library’s internal and external auditors, and
c.
satisfy itself that there is an appropriate ethical climate in the Library, and review policies relating to internal controls and management of risks

c.
review the performance of the Director-General on the basis of achievement of agreed priorities
